2012 CALCUTTA CUP CURRY COMPETITION
Sunday 05 Feb 12
As most of you are aware each year on the day of the Calcutta Cup the Oak hosts its annual curry competition. Each year up to now we have had approximately 13 entries but this year saw a staggering 21, yes 21 entries.
The variety of different flavours was spectacular and the effort that was made by all those taking part was outstanding. We had our very first beetroot curry which was delicious, 2x thai green curries, pork, beef , chicken and lamb entries.
Judging began an hour before kick off and took approximately an hour to complete with a lot of deliberating going on in the privacy of the back room.
The winning entries this year were as follows.
3rd place Dai Powell
2nd place Frank Dimmer
1st Place - Tracey Sleight
A huge thank you to all those who entered and for the donation of onion bhajis from Rich, to Karen for helping bring the food down at half time and everyone that came and supported the pub to make a great afternoon.
